TV Show Stereotypes #11: Another Tour of Total Drama

Hello again, and we are returning to that Total Drama series, and we are talking about the third installment, Total Drama World Tour. In this one we are introduced to a new character, Alejandro, and he is pretty much the latino lover stereotype type. Now, it’s a show for kids so he’s not straight up having sex with girls, but he does seduce a lot of ladies in order to get ahead in the competition to win the million dollars. This does in fact work as he does become one of the finalists in the show. Now, he doesn’t only rely on his good looks as throughout the competitions he uses a combination of that and his brain in order to dominate so he isn’t just a pretty face. He is smart and resourceful making him be a little more above the stereotype but that doesn’t completely change the fact that he is one. This doesn’t stop Total Drama World Tour from being a good show, so I would once again recommend you to watch it.

TV Show Stereotypes #10: Make the Good Times Last

Hello again today, we are going to talk about a character from the TV show 6teen. The character we are going to discuss the character, Wyatt Williams, and his stereotype is pretty subtle but it is there. Wyatt is an African American character, and he is a music man stereotype for his race. Now, this doesn’t seem unnatural or very offensive as Wyatt does seem to generally love music in the show and the songs he sings in it are great. He is one of my favorite characters in the show, and him being a musician just adds to his character. Of course, it is also a continuation of a stereotype that isn’t true for all African Americans but in the show it isn’t the only trait Wyatt has only one of many, so it isn’t as bad as it could have been. The show is still good to watch, and would definitely recommend if you haven’t watched it already.

TV Show Stereotypes #9: Return to Total Drama

Hello once again and this time we are going to continue to talk about Total Drama as it does contain many stereotypes. This time we are going to talk about the character Lindsay, who is the dumb blonde stereotype. She is, of course, very beautiful in the show as many other characters talk about how good looking Lindsay is. She is also dumb as the stereotypes states as she can’t remember her boyfriend’s name, and interprets instructions very poorly. This is used to great effect in Total Drama, as one of the other female characters, Heather takes advantage of her stupidity to make her an ally, so she can get ahead in the competition, despite treating her badly. Lindsay doesn’t recognize this for most of the show’s run, seeing Heather’s meanness as a sign of their friendship. Near the end of the show, she does see that Heather is evil but by then it’s too late and she is out of the competition. Overall, the show used the stereotype to make an entertaining character, and that is okay as i

TV Show Stereotypes #8: Totally full of Drama

Hello once again, and the show we are going to talk about this time is Total Drama Island. It’s basically a cartoon parody of reality TV shows where the contestants compete for $100,000, and it’s winner takes all. Being a parody, it would have many stereotypes associated with it, and to me the one that stands out the most is the angry black woman. The name of the character is Leshawna, and see really does embody the stereotype. Down to fight with anyone who gets on her nerves and is very sassy. That doesn’t make the show offensive to me as it is clearly a parody in my eyes, so I see it as making fun of the typical people you would normally see on reality TV. If you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend you give it a watch, you’ll have a blast at the ridiculousness that ensues in the show.

TV Show Stereotypes #7: Revenge of the Zombies!

Hello again and this time we are once again talking about iZombie as there is another thing that I didn’t really notice at first but it was following the trope was having a foreign sidekick or companion character. The character is named Ravi Chakrabarti and he is a doctor trying to help Liz find a cure for zombism. He basically does a lot for Liz, such as infiltrate a zombie-hating group and provide her the brains she needs to eat in emergency situations. He doesn’t seem to get much love in the show as even though he is seemingly carrying the most weight, the show focuses on Liz more. Don’t get me wrong Ravi does get his moments to shine now and again but from what I’ve seen from the show so far that doesn’t seem to be the case. This still doesn’t stop my enjoyment of the show but now that I see it, I can’t just ignore it.

TV Show Stereotype #6: Brain Food...Literally...

Hello once again audience today I’m going to talk about a new show that has piqued my interest, which is called iZombie. Now this show is about a zombie named Liz Moore who eats the brains of dead murder victims to help solve their cases. This happens because whoever brain she eats, the deceased's memories and skills are temporarily transferred to her as long as she keeps eating the brain. With this concept of course there are many stereotypes that get portrayed through Liz from the brains she eats. One time she ate the brain of an Latino man and as you guessed it became quite the good lover. Another time she consumed the brain of an Asian man and gained his kung fu abilities. The list can go on and on but not all the victims are stereotypes, just interesting people for Liz to be for the episode. This doesn’t stop my enjoyment of the show at all as I like how Liz’s character can basically change from one episode to another and the reason for it is cool. In the end, I would still re

TV Show Stereotypes #5: A Special Sort of Show

Hello again and this time we are going to talk about a cancelled TV show with a very interesting premise. The show is called The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer, and in short it’s a sitcom about a blackman during the American Civil War. That’s not a very good idea and it doesn’t help that they make slavery’s effect lighthearted and funny when it was not. It portrayed the main character Desmond as being okay with slavery as he himself in the show has slaves of his own. The whole tone of the show makes it feel like African Americans were okay with being and it wasn’t such a big deal. Such an awful show and the only good thing about it is that only one episode was made before they took it off the air. But the fact that even one episode was this offensive premise came out still just hurts. Sorry this isn’t my regular type of content but I had to talk about this once I was informed about its existence. Anyways everyone stays still well and has a happy Easter!
